Install Cabinet Hinges Concealed

Concealed cabinet hinges are a great way to give your cabinets a clean and finished look. They are hidden from view, so they won't detract from the design of your cabinets. Installing concealed cabinet hinges is a relatively easy project that can be completed in a few hours.

Tools and Materials

  • Concealed cabinet hinges
  • Screwdriver
  • Drill
  • 3/16-inch drill bit
  • 1/4-inch drill bit
  • Countersink bit
  • Clamps

Instructions

  1. Start by removing the doors from the cabinets. To do this, open the door and locate the hinges. There will be two screws holding each hinge in place. Remove the screws and carefully lift the door off the cabinet.
  2. Next, you need to mark the location of the hinges on the inside of the cabinet. To do this, place the hinge on the inside of the cabinet and align it with the edge of the door. Use a pencil to mark the location of the screw holes.
  3. Once you have marked the location of the hinges, you need to drill the pilot holes. To do this, use a 3/16-inch drill bit to drill a hole at each of the marked locations. Be sure to drill the holes straight and to a depth of about 1 inch.
  4. Next, you need to countersink the holes. To do this, use a countersink bit to create a small recess around each of the holes. This will help to hide the screw heads.
  5. Now, you can install the hinges. To do this, place the hinge on the inside of the cabinet and align it with the pilot holes. Use a screwdriver to drive the screws into the holes.
  6. Once the hinges are installed, you can reattach the doors to the cabinets. To do this, simply lift the door onto the cabinet and align it with the hinges. Push the door into place and secure it with the screws.

Tips

  • When choosing concealed cabinet hinges, be sure to select hinges that are the right size for your cabinets. The hinges should be long enough to reach from the inside of the cabinet to the edge of the door.
  • If you are having trouble drilling the pilot holes, you can use a self-centering drill bit. This type of drill bit will help to ensure that the holes are drilled straight.
  • Be sure to countersink the holes before installing the hinges. This will help to hide the screw heads and give your cabinets a more finished look.
  • If you are not comfortable installing concealed cabinet hinges yourself, you can hire a professional to do it for you.
