How to Build a Medicine Cabinet with Mirror

A medicine cabinet with a mirror is a convenient and stylish addition to any bathroom. It provides a place to store your essential toiletries and medications, and the mirror is perfect for getting ready in the morning. Building your own medicine cabinet is a relatively simple project that can be completed in a few hours.

Materials You'll Need:

  • 1x10 pine board (cut to desired length)
  • 1x4 pine board (cut to desired length)
  • 1/2-inch plywood (cut to desired size)
  • Mirror (cut to desired size)
  • Wood glue
  • Nails
  • Screws
  • Drill
  • Saw
  • Measuring tape
  • Level

Instructions:

1. Cut the wood. Cut the 1x10 pine board to the desired length for the sides of the cabinet. Cut the 1x4 pine board to the desired length for the top and bottom of the cabinet. Cut the 1/2-inch plywood to the desired size for the back of the cabinet.

2. Assemble the frame. Apply wood glue to the edges of the 1x10 pine boards and attach them to the 1x4 pine boards to form the frame of the cabinet. Use nails or screws to secure the joints. Make sure the frame is square before attaching the back.

3. Attach the back. Apply wood glue to the back of the frame and attach the 1/2-inch plywood. Use nails or screws to secure the back.

4. Install the mirror. Apply a bead of silicone caulk around the edges of the mirror and press it into place on the back of the cabinet. Use masking tape to hold the mirror in place until the caulk dries.

5. Add the shelves (optional). If desired, you can add shelves to the cabinet for additional storage. Cut the shelves from 1/2-inch plywood and attach them to the sides of the cabinet using wood glue and nails or screws.

6. Finish the cabinet. Sand the cabinet lightly and apply a coat of paint or stain. Allow the finish to dry completely before using the cabinet.
