How to Build a Kitchen Base Cabinet with Drawers

Materials

3/4-inch plywood for the cabinet box
1/2-inch plywood for the drawer fronts
1/4-inch plywood for the drawer bottoms
Drawer slides
Cabinet hardware (hinges, knobs, pulls)
Wood glue
Clamps
Screws
Nails

Step 1: Cut the Pieces

Cut the pieces for the cabinet box according to the following dimensions:

Two sides: 30 inches wide x 24 inches high
One top: 30 inches wide x 24 inches deep
One bottom: 30 inches wide x 24 inches deep
One back: 29 1/2 inches wide x 24 inches high

Cut the pieces for the drawer fronts according to the following dimensions:

Two fronts: 14 1/2 inches wide x 18 inches high

Cut the pieces for the drawer bottoms according to the following dimensions:

Two bottoms: 14 1/2 inches wide x 17 1/2 inches deep

Step 2: Assemble the Cabinet Box

Apply wood glue to the edges of the sides, top, and bottom pieces. Clamp the pieces together and screw them in place.

Attach the back piece to the cabinet box using wood glue and nails.

Step 3: Install the Drawer Slides

Measure and mark the location of the drawer slides on the inside of the cabinet box. Install the drawer slides according to the manufacturer's instructions.
